More about the SEVEN System devices

The SEVEN System is made up of 3 technologies that all work together. Click on the links below to learn more about each device:

Sensor

The SEVEN Sensor is a tiny, flexible, platinum wire-based device that goes just under your skin to read glucose levels, and is attached to the skin by a small, adhesive patch. The SEVEN Sensor is the smallest available — which means it's designed to be comfortable — and it's also the only Sensor approved for up to 7 days of use. Other brands may only be used up to 3 or 5 days before they must be replaced.

Seven days of glucose information gives you more time to live life, and minimizes the time you spend replacing your sensors and waiting for more continuous glucose information. And more days of usability means a lower cost to you over time.

The OpenChoice™ System allows you to use any FDA-cleared (U.S. commercially available) blood glucose meter for calibration. You only need to calibrate one time every 12 hours.

Transmitter

The Transmitter is a water-resistant, micro-technology that snaps into the Sensor to form a small and discreet unit. The small and lightweight SEVEN Transmitter design maximizes Sensor comfort. Using heavier or bulkier transmitters may cause the sensor unit to come off the skin — this means missed readings. Here you see the Transmitter snapped into the Sensor.

The Transmitter wirelessly sends glucose information to the Receiver every 5 minutes. Pictured here is the Transmitter next to a quarter to show its small size. When snapped into the Sensor base, it forms a water-resistant pod.

Receiver

The SEVEN Receiver is a wireless device that has the largest display available on the market, for easy viewing. It shows your glucose trend and your glucose level to help you Stay Between The Lines® and in your target zone. At about the size and weight of a cell phone, you can clip the Receiver to your belt, put it in your pocket, handbag, or briefcase, or set it on your desk or nightstand. The Transmitter can be up to 5 feet away from the Receiver and still transmit your glucose readings.

With customizable high and low alerts, the SEVEN is designed to help you detect and avoid going too high or low. And, the SEVEN System offers you extra piece of mind with its Hypo-Safety-Alarm. The only one of its kind, the SEVEN is designed to alert you when your glucose falls to 55 mg/dL or lower. This alarm cannot be turned off. So its always on the look out for you!

The Receiver provides easy viewing of 1-, 3- and 9-hour glucose trends and current glucose readings. The SEVEN Receiver stores up to 30 days of data, and can be downloaded to your PC using DexCom Data Manager® 2 software for viewing of long-term trends.
