Dexcom Share is a feature within the G6 app that allows for remote monitoring. One person, (the Sharer) may share their CGM data with another person (the Follower). To setup Share simply press the Share icon in the app and follow the onscreen instructions. *Requires separate Follow App and internet connectivity.

How do I share my G6 glucose data with followers?

No. The new Dexcom G6 CGM system is designed to eliminate the need for fingerstick calibrations* and can be used for 10 days without restart. *If your glucose alerts and readings from the G6 do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.

Can the sensor be restarted after 10 days?

A new Dexcom patient will receive the Dexcom G6 system including a transmitter and sensors. An optional touch screen receiver is available as well. If you decide to use a compatible smart device*, you will need to download the new Dexcom G6 app. * To view the latest supported devices, visit http://www.dexcom.com/compatibility

What components are required with the new G6 system? 

Dexcom G6 sensors may be inserted on the abdomen and the back of the upper arm (indicated for patients age 2 years and older) or the upper buttocks (ages 2-17 years)...

Where can I insert my G6 sensor?

When you start a new sensor, you must enter a code into your display device to use the G6 without fingerstick calibrations. Each sensor has its own code printed on the back of the adhesive patch. Do not use a code from a different sensor or make up a code. If you do not enter the correct code, your sensor will not work as well and could be inaccurate. If you have lost the sensor code, you may calibrate the G6 using fingersticks.

 What is a sensor code and why do I need one?

Each year we assess whether to keep supporting older Operating Systems (OS) for Dexcom apps. When an OS you’re using is no longer supported for your Dexcom app, we will ask you to update your OS to continue getting app updates. Your current Dexcom app version will continue to work, but you won’t be able to get future app updates until you update your OS to the new required minimum OS.  

Why am I being asked to update my phone operating system (OS) to continue getting Dexcom app updates?

How long does the Dexcom G6 transmitter last?

The Dexcom G6 a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system. Dexcom G6 is factory-calibrated—so zero fingersticks are required. * The Dexcom G6 is comprised of a sensor, transmitter and display device (receiver and/or compatible smart device)**.

How can I avoid iritated or sensitive skin caused by the sensor adhesive?

The option to enter calibrations was included to allow a user to manually calibrate the system in case the start-up calibration code is lost. The system is designed to work properly without calibrations.

Does the G6 accept calibrations? 

You have the option to use only the app, only the receiver, or both at the same time.

Do I need to use my receiver? 

The Dexcom G6 mobile app not only displays glucose information on your compatible smart device but can also deliver glucose alerts to notify you of pending highs and lows...

What are the Dexcom G6 alert capabilities?

Will Dexcom Clarity work with G6? 

Yes, you’ll need to put in the sensor code from the sensor each time you start a new one. The sensor code is found on the bottom of the applicator on the adhesive strip.

Do I have to put the sensor code in every time I start a new sensor?

Where can I purchase?

At this time, Dexcom will not have a recycling program. Dexcom recommends that users dispose of the used applicator following local guidelines for blood containing components.

Is Dexcom creating a recycling program for the sensor applicator at launch?

Yes, Dexcom G6 is indicated for children as young as 2 years old.

Is this product approved for Pediatrics?

The Dexcom G6 sensor is approved to be worn up to 10 days.

How long can I wear the sensor?

Without your sensor code, you’ll need to calibrate twice after your 2-hour sensor warmup is complete, a third time 12 hours later, a fourth time 12 hours after that, and then once every 24 hours.

I lost my sensor code. What do I do? 

Yes, the Dexcom G6 app is available for free download in the Google Play and Apple App Stores.

Is there a Smartphone app for the G6?

What is the Android Do Not Disturb Permission? Support for the Android Do Not Disturb Permission was introduced with the release of G6 Android app version 1.9.0. Safety is Dexcom’s top priority, so this new app permission is required to ensure you always get the Urgent Low alarm and important Dexcom alerts even when you put your phone in the most restrictive Do Not Disturb setting.

What is the Android Do Not Disturb Permission? 

The Dexcom G6 app must be downloaded to your smartphone. It is available for free from the Apple App or Google Play stores. The app is named “Dexcom G6”. Once downloaded, follow the in-app prompts to set up your account and start your sensor.

How do I set up the Dexcom G6 with my phone? 

We understand you may be concerned about granting this permission, but Dexcom does not use this permission to track your location. The Android Bluetooth implementation we use requires you to give us this level of Location Permission for us to connect and communicate continuously with the Transmitter. While this permission can be used to share location data, Dexcom doesn’t use it in this way.

Why does the G6 Android app ask for Location Permission?

Yes, you can check your CGM information on your Apple Watch! The Dexcom G6 app supports Apple Watch and can be used to discreetly view your glucose reading, trend arrow, and trend graph. Use the digital crown to scroll the trend graph view between 1, 3, or 6 hours of data.  You can also view your number and arrow as a complication on your watch face. You can choose from 5 complication styles depending on your preferred watch face.

Can I view my Dexcom G6 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System data on an Apple Watch?

Your phone settings can prevent the Dexcom G6 app from working. Learn more about the settings that will allow your app to work as expected.

What are the recommended G6 iPhone settings?

iOS and Android platforms are compatible for Followers. To view the latest supported devices, visit http://www.dexcom.com/compatibility

What smart phones are compatible with the Follow app? 

With the Dexcom G6 app version 1.9 and later, you can ask Siri to recite your Dexcom glucose readings out loud and display your graph directly on the lock screen.

How do I set up Siri on the G6 app? 

A variety of iOS and Android smart devices are compatible with G6. Compatibility is listed here: www.dexcom.com/compatibility

What smart devices are compatible with the G6?

Yes, G6 does work with the Dexcom Follow App allowing you to share your numbers with up to 10 followers. Followers must download the Dexcom Follow app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
