What is a normal blood sugar level? 

Normal or usual plasma blood glucose (sugar) levels range depending on time of day, meals and more. Using a chart like the one below can help you develop a program of regular blood glucose monitoring to manage your condition. 

Here are what are considered normal ranges for people without diabetes and with diabetes:  

Time of Check Goal ranges for people without diabetes   Goal ranges for people with diabetes
Before breakfast (fasting)  <100  70-130
Before lunch, supper and snack  <110  70-130
Two hours after meals  <140  <180
Bedtime  <120  90-150
A1C (also known as glycosylated hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c or glycohemoglobin A1c)  <6%  <7%
