Don: Firefighter/ Paramedic

I saw a Dexcom on one of my patients last year while taking them to the hospital and began to look into what it was and how it worked. I decided to try it to see if it would be a good resource for me to help manage my diabetes. Prior to receiving it, I had an A1c of 9.3%. I have always had a hard time getting much better than 8.7% because I kept my glucose at a higher level due to work and not knowing what I would be doing in 5 minutes. After using the Dexcom for 6 months, my A1c has gone down to 7.5% with no low glucose problems at work or home. My doctor could not believe it was possible and was amazed at the difference. I have learned more about how food and insulin affects me in 6 months than I had in 20 plus years as a type 1 diabetic. Every diabetic in the world should have one.
