| Don Lucas is a 46-year veteran of the venture capital business. He made his first investment in 1957, raising half of the initial equity financing for National Semiconductor Corporation. Don began his career in the corporate finance department of Smith Barney & Co.
Before becoming an individual venture capital investor, Mr. Luca was a General and Limited Partner of Draper, Gaither & Anderson (DG&A), the first venture capital firm. DG&A distributed its assets in 1966, realizing an excellent return for its partners. For approximately the last four decades, Mr. Lucas has been actively engaged in venture capital activities both as an individual and as General Partner of Sand Hill Financial Company, a partnership backed by family and friends.
Following his initial investments in several prominent technology companies, Mr. Lucas has become active in such leading companies as Cadence Design Systems, Inc., Macromedia, Inc., PDF Solutions, Inc., and Oracle Corporation.
Mr. Lucas is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. and is Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of Oracle Corporation. In addition, Mr. Lucas serves as a Director for several other public and private companies. Mr. Lucas is actively involved in educational and community programs. He is a Trustee of the University of Santa Clara. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University and his MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. |
