| The Seven Continuous Glucose Monitoring System
The Seven Continuous Glucose Monitoring System is
a patient-insertable short-term sensor that wirelessly
transmits glucose readings to the Seven Receiver.
The Seven Sensor includes a wire-like sensor. The
Sensor is inserted using the detachable Seven Applicator
by the user or clinician. The Sensor goes just under
the skin where it is held in place by an adhesive.
Once inserted the user wears the Seven Sensor
for up to 7 days before being replaced. After 7
days, the user simply removes the Sensor from the
skin and discards it. A new Sensor can then be used
with the reusable Transmitter and Receiver.
The Seven Receiver provides:
- Continuous glucose values
- 1-, 3-, and 9-hour glucose trend information
- High and Low glucose alerts
- Low glucose ALARM (55 mg/dl)
Clinical research using DexCom’s continuous glucose monitoring system has shown 1, 2, 3:
- The DexCom continuous glucose monitoring system is safe and accurate
- Users were able to reduce time spent hyperglycemic and hypoglycemic, while simultaneously increasing time spent in target glucose range
- Users demonstrated statistically significant improvements in glycemic profiles with no guidance or therapeutic adjustments from physicians
- Users with both good and poor control show improvements in glycemic control
- Access to night-time glucose values and alerts/alarms give users the opportunity to treat glycemic excursions that they may never be aware of otherwise
