How can I receive Dexcom ONE reimbursed?

Q. What are the guidelines for reimbursement?

All endocrinologists and pediatricians will be able to prescribe a Dexcom ONE continuous glucose monitoring system for people with type 1 diabetes. Eligible patients will be able to purchase 4 transmitters and 40 sensors (41 sensors for under 19 years old) over the course of a year at a 90% discount of the reference price, which is expected to cover their annual needs. 


Q. Who can receive reimbursement?

Dexcom ONE can be prescribed to people with Type 1 diabetes ages 2 years and above.


Q. When does reimbursement become available in Estonia?

The Estonian Health Insurance Fund is reimbursing the Dexcom ONE Continuous Glucose Monitoring for people with Type 1 diabetes since the 1st January 2022


Q. How do I receive the product?

First, we would recommend speaking to your endocrinologist or pediatrician.

The Dexcom ONE will be available through pharmacies via standard e-prescription. 

Anyone prescribed Dexcom ONE should first receive a Dexcom ONE starter kit containing the user manuals.

Q. What is the reimbursement coverage ?

The below table shown the reimbursement coverage (reference price) published by the Health Insurance Fund:

Prices charged by pharmacies could differ from the above reference price. As a result the 10% co-pay amount for each patient may be different across pharmacies. 


Q. Can I still receive blood glucose test strips?

Dexcom ONE users remain eligible to the coverage of test strips for their Blood Glucose Meters.


Q. How long do the Dexcom ONE system components last?

Transmitters have a 90-day battery life warranty. Therefore, each transmitter will last 3 months.

Sensors last 10 days. Any sensors not lasting 10 days will be replaced as long as the issue is not the consequence of a user’s action.
