How and Where to Insert Dexcom Sensors
Dexcom sensors are designed with auto-applicators to make insertion quick and consistent.
Dexcom CGM is designed for easy application, with patients reporting the sensor insertions to be painless*.1,2.
General Guidance for All Dexcom Sensors:
• See below for approved insertion sites*
• Avoid bony areas where there is not much fatty tissue .
• Avoid areas with scarring, irritation, tattoos, or where clothing may rub.
• Insert the sensor at least 8 cm away from any insulin pump infusion set or injection site.
• Rotate insertion sites with each new sensor to allow skin to heal and reduce irritation.
• For best results, follow the instructions in your user guide and consult your healthcare professional if you’re unsure about the best site for you.
• Always site your Dexcom Sensor at least 8cm away from your pump cannula
• Dexcom sensors work for 10 days and cannot be restarted. You will be notified via the app or receiver when your Sensor is due to end

Dexcom ONE+ and Dexcom G7 Sensor
All users aged 2 and older can use the abdomen or the back of the upper arm for sensor insertion
Ages 2 –6 can also use the upper buttocks

All users aged 2 and older can use the abdomen or the back of the upper arm for sensor insertion
