• Why am I being asked to update my smartphone's operating system (OS) to continue getting Dexcom G7 app updates?

  We assess whether to keep supporting older operating systems (OS) for Dexcom apps on an annual basis. When an OS you are using is no longer supported for your Dexcom app, we will ask you to update your OS to continue getting app updates. Your current Dexcom app version may continue to work, but you will not be able to get future app updates until you update your OS to the new required minimum OS. • Will updating my smart phone affect how I can use my Dexcom G7?

  Before upgrading your smart phone or its operating system, check dexcom.com/g7-compatibility.

  Automatic Dexcom G7 app and/or Android smartphone operating system updates can change settings or shut down the Dexcom app, so always update your smart phone manually and verify the correct device settings afterward.

• Removing your Dexcom G7 Sensor

  After sensor session ends, peel off patch like a bandage. To make it easier, try these tips:

  • Loosen edge and soak patch in body oil, like baby oil or an adhesive remover for skin (see product instructions before using).
  • Use adhesive removal wipes for skin to rub the skin that gets exposed as you peel back the patch.

  Try different pulling techniques:

  • Pull off the patch slowly, folding it over itself, in the same direction of hair growth
  • Stretch loosened edge, and push your fingers under the patch to pull it off skin

• Can I wear Dexcom G7 through airport security or while flying?

  At security checkpoints

  You can wear your Dexcom G7 sensor when going through walk-through metal detectors and Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) body scanners. Alternatively, you may ask for hand-wanding or a full-body pat-down and visual inspection. Ask for visual inspection of any part of your Dexcom G7 in the baggage scanning machine.

  Most security check points require you to temporarily give up your smart device* and receiver. When you are without a display device in a security check point area, use your Blood Glucose (BG) meter for treatment decisions.

  To help you prepare for airport security checks and screening procedures for air travel, review any relevant airport websites and travel updates before your trip.

  On the plane

  To use your Dexcom G7 app or receiver to get sensor glucose information while on the plane, follow these instructions:

  • App: Switch smartphone to airplane mode, then turn Bluetooth on
  • Receiver: Keep receiver on

  Contact your airline for their policies. Always follow instructions from the airplane crew while on the plane.

• Can I get Dexcom G7 wet?

  Once inserted, the sensor is waterproof up to 2.4 meters. The receiver is not. Swim, shower, and take a bath with the sensor, but leave the receiver out of the water. If you are in or near water, your display device may need to be closer than 6 meters to get sensor readings. If you are in water, you may not get sensor readings until you get out. The patch stays on longer if kept dry. For details, go to the Adhesive Patch section in the Troubleshooting chapter of your User Guide.

• Can I calibrate Dexcom G7?

  Calibration is not required. If you want to calibrate, you can log it as an event within the G7 App on your smart device.

  No. Dexcom G6 sensors, transmitters, and receivers are not compatible with the Dexcom G7 CGM System.

• Is the Dexcom G7 CGM System indicated for paediatric patients?

  Yes, Dexcom G7 is indicated for children as young as 2 years old.

• How can I avoid irritated or sensitive skin caused by the Dexcom G7 sensor adhesive?

  Some people may be sensitive to the sensor adhesive, so extra care can help. Follow the insertion instructions carefully, review the site preparation tips and consider these points:

  • If applying the sensor on a new site: Don't use the same sensor site twice in a row.
  • Keep skin healthy: Consider moisturizing your skin between sensor sessions to avoid dry skin, but do not use moisturizer on the same sensor site the day you insert the sensor.

• Are there any changes to alerts for Dexcom G7 compared to Dexcom G6?

  Dexcom G7 has new alert sounds and sound options.

  The new Quiet Mode allows users to override phone settings:

  Quiet Mode (Vibrate): When this setting is enabled, all Dexcom G7 CGM System alerts will vibrate. Urgent Low Soon and technical alerts will still escalate to sound if not acknowledged.

  Vibrate: All alerts vibrate but will not sound. You can set vibrate mode for up to 6 hours or indefinitely.

  • Vibrate Exceptions: Your smartphone vibrate setting must be on for the alerts to vibrate. For more information, go to: Settings > G7 Android Safety and tap Complete guide to Dexcom Android Settings

  In the app, Urgent Low and the following alerts act differently; if you do not acknowledge them, they will add sound: App Bluetooth is Off, App is Closed, App Location is Off, App Stopped: Phone Storage Full, App Stopped Working, Phone Bluetooth is Off, Phone Location is Off, Replace Sensor Now, and Sensor Failed.

  Quiet Mode (Silence All): This setting can be enabled for up to 6 hours, allowing total silence when it is needed. When this setting is enabled, all Dexcom G7 alerts will be silent, and the user will not hear sounds or feel vibrations related to any alerts. However, visual alerts will still be displayed on the user's compatible display device. Users should check their display device frequently to avoid missing a low or high event. A banner with the stop time shows at the top of your screen when you use these modes.

  Silence All Exceptions: 'App Stopped Working' and 'App Stopped: Phone Storage Full' alerts will still sound. The Dexcom G7 Alert Profile replaces the Alert Schedule from Dexcom G6. The Alert Profile allows users to customize a second group of alerts, which can be used in two ways:

  • You can switch between them manually
  • You can set up a schedule to switch between alerts automatically; for example, to set different alert schedules for daytime and nighttime.

  In addition, you can now customize a Delay 1st Alert setting for your High Alert. Turn it on to delay your first alert until your sensor reading is at or past the alert setting for a while. You choose how long—for example, if you set Delay 1st Alert to 20 minutes for your High Alert, your glucose must be at or above your high alert level for 20 minutes before you get the alert.

  Yes, the Dexcom Follow app works the same way as it did with the Dexcom G6 app on compatible smart devices.^‡
