Setting Up Sharing and Dexcom Clarity

How does Dexcom Clarity get my data?

The smartphone system sends data to the Dexcom server, where that data is made available for reports. To receive this data, the smartphone needs to be connected to the internet and have the Dexcom Mobile CGM app running.

Can I use both a receiver and smart device with Dexcom Clarity?

It is possible to use both a smart device and a receiver to provide CGM data. The smart device system streams data to the Clarity server, where that data is made available for reports after three hours.

Will Dexcom Clarity work with G6?

Yes, G6 does work with Clarity. Patients will not need to register again. If you are already sharing with your clinic, the clinic will not need to reconnect.

Where can I obtain a printed version of the Dexcom Clarity user guide?

The Clarity User Guide can be found and printed from the Clarity Help menu. Your local Dexcom representative can also provide a printed copy.

Do I need to use my receiver?

You have the option to use only the app, only the receiver, or both at the same time.

How do I set up the Dexcom G6 with my phone?

The Dexcom G6 app has to be downloaded and is different from the Dexcom G5 Mobile app. (Please note: The G6 system will not work with the G5 Mobile app.) It is available for free from the Apple App or Google Play stores. The app is named “Dexcom G6”.

What smart devices are compatible with the G6?

A variety of iOS and Android smart devices are compatible with G6. Compatibility is listed here: www.dexcom.com/compatibility

Is there a new app for the G6?

Yes, the Dexcom G6 app will be available for free download in the Google Play and Apple App Stores. The Dexcom G5 Mobile App will not work with a G6 System and vice versa.

Calibration and Accuracy Issues

Does the G6 accept calibrations?

The option to enter calibrations was included to allow a user to manually calibrate the system in case the start-up calibration code is lost. The system is designed to work properly without calibrations.

Using the Dexcom CGM App

How do I share my G6 glucose data with followers?

Dexcom Share is a feature within the G6 app that allows for remote monitoring. One person, (the Sharer) may share their CGM data with another person (the Follower).

Are there any changes with alarms and alerts?

The “Urgent Low Soon” alert is a new alert that can warn users in advance (within 20 minutes) of a severe hypoglycemic event (55 mg/dL or 3.1 mmol/L) — allowing them time to take appropriate action before an event happens.

Common Dexcom CGM Questions

What components are required with the new G6 system?

A new Dexcom patient will receive the Dexcom G6 system including a–transmitter and sensors. An optional touch screen receiver is available as well.

Exporting and Sharing Reports

How do I access past data from Dexcom STUDIO?

At this time, there is no mechanism to import the data from Dexcom STUDIO into Dexcom Clarity. Data stored in Dexcom STUDIO will continue to be viewable within Dexcom STUDIO.

Entering your Transmitter SN into your Dexcom receiver

The transmitter SN is a series of numbers and/or letters that can be found in the following locations:• On the transmitter box label – the transmitter SN number is the same as the SN number on the box

What is the difference between Shutdown and Stop Sensor?

The Shutdown option powers down the receiver and acts as an on/off button, temporarily turning off all communication between your transmitter and receiver during a sensor session.

What is the status area?

The status area is located in the upper right corner of your receiver screen. This area alerts you to calibration updates, calibration errors and sensor glucose reading issues.

What is the receiver warranty?

The warranty life of the receiver is one year.

Compatible Software and Apps

What are the computer and software requirements for Dexcom Clarity?

A broadband network connection of 1.5 Mbps or more is required to install the software from the web, upload data or view the online User Guide.
