In Standard Smartwatch mode, there is no direct connection between the Dexcom G7 sensor and the smartwatch, so users must keep their smartphone within 6 meters to receive glucose readings on their smartwatch.

How can I tell if I am in Direct to Watch Mode or Standard Smartwatch mode?

No. A cellular plan isn’t required to connect your Dexcom G7 sensor to your watch. The sensor connects to your Apple Watch using Bluetooth.

Do I need to have a cellular plan for my Apple Watch to be able to use the Direct to Watch Feature?

No, Direct to Watch can’t share real-time glucose data to Health App partners like Sugarmate or Happy Bob. When you are back with your phone* your glucose data will be backfilled to the partner app.

Will my Apple Watch* share glucose data with Health Apps like Sugarmate or Happy Bob?

Direct to Watch connects the Dexcom G7 sensor directly to your Apple Watch* using Bluetooth.

What is Direct to Watch?

Your watch will mirror the settings of your smartphone. To change the alert settings on your watch you must:  Bring your phone and smartwatch close to each other; Change your alert settings on your G7 phone app; Open and display the G7 app on your watch and phone at the same time for a few seconds; This lets the smartwatch copy the new settings.

How can I change the alert settings on my watch?

Share is not available on smartwatches. Your smartwatch can’t send information to followers. The primary user must use their Dexcom G7 phone app to use Share and Follow.

Is Share available from my Watch when in Direct to Watch Mode?

Yes. Dexcom G7 can display glucose on multiple devices including your phone, smartwatch, and Dexcom receiver or connected AID (Automated Insulin Delivery) system simultaneously and independent of each other.

If I use Direct to Watch, can I still connect to my AID system?

With Direct to Watch mode, you can see your CGM information on your smartwatch, even when you’re not near your phone.
