Why does Dexcom require a Dexcom user under 18 years old to use a dependent account instead of their own account?

Dexcom requires anyone creating an individual account to accept our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy when signing up. These are agreements that serve as contracts, and in the U.S. contracts can only be accepted by customers who are 18 years and older.
Since the Dexcom G6 system is indicated for ages 2 years and older, we need caregivers to create an individual account first to accept these agreements and then create a linked dependent account for the customer who is under 18 years old.
For help creating a dependent account, check out the FAQ on how to create a dependent account.
