Why isn't my transmitter working and/or why is my Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System telling me to pair a new transmitter?

Last Updated: October 1, 2020

Dexcom G5 Mobile and Dexcom G6 transmitters last 90 days from activation. You can find your transmitter activated date in the settings screen in your Dexcom G5/G6 app. If using a receiver device, go to the Menu bars, Settings, Transmitter, and Transmitter Info. If using the app, click on Settings, and then Transmitter. This will allow you to view the activated date. Dexcom G6 transmitters last for 90 days from the first time you snap it into a sensor to activate it. Also, be aware a transmitter must be activated within 5 months of its shipping date to function.

If your transmitter is more than 90 days old and not working, you must use a new transmitter. You will not be able to start a sensor session past day 90. To avoid any unnecessary issues with your Dexcom CGM System, contact your supplier to have a new transmitter in hand by day 90. If your transmitter is less than 90 days from activation, contact Global Technical Support for troubleshooting by requesting a call back or by calling 1-844-607-8398.

For information on how to pair a new transmitter, please visit this page. You can also print out this pdf that contains instructions on how to pair a new transmitter.
