The products listed below are available for order and fully funded for eligible DVA clients:
  1. Dexcom CGM systems, including the Dexcom G7 and G6 systems
  2. Tandem t:slim X2 Insulin pumps plus consumables (including accessories, cartridges and infusion sets)
  3. HypoPak Fast-Acting Glucose

How to access DVA products

If you are eligible, you can choose how to access your fully funded glucose management products.
You can now order supplies directly from DVA contracted suppliers (Aidacare, Allianz Global Assistance, The Country Care Group, and BrightSky), instead of contacting DVA's Rehabilitation Appliances Program (RAP) or obtain products through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS)*. You can have your glucose management products delivered by a contracted supplier through RAP or collect them from your local pharmacy via the NDSS.
These two options are further stepped out below:

Option 1: Get a DVA contracted supplier to deliver the glucose management products to your door through RAP

Follow these steps:
  1. Make an appointment to discuss your health needs with your healthcare provider, such as your GP, endocrinologist, glucose management educator or registered nurse.
  2. If you need glucose management products, ask your healthcare provider to fill in the Products Order Form and send it to one of the DVA contracted suppliers listed on the form.
  3. Check that your healthcare provider has given you a copy of the form so that you can re-order your products when you need them.
  4. Your products will be delivered to your door shortly afterwards by a DVA contracted supplier, at no cost to you.
  5. In addition, if you require CGM sensors, these will be automatically delivered to your home. You can choose to make a reoccurring order or place a one-time order.
If your healthcare provider has also given you a prescription for glucose management medication, you will need to take the prescription to your local pharmacy. Your local pharmacy will dispense the medication to you. A DVA contracted supplier will not deliver your medication to your home.

Option 2: Visit your local pharmacy to collect your glucose management products through NDSS

Follow these steps:
  1. If you haven’t already, please register with the NDSS.
  2. Go to your local NDSS access point, such as your local pharmacy, to receive a limited range of glucose management products. Please note: The range available may not be as wide as through RAP.
  3. Give them your NDSS registration number that is on your NDSS card, and also show the pharmacy staff your Veteran Card.
  4. If you are an eligible Veteran Card holder, you will get the glucose management products for free without paying the co-payment. The Australian Government subsidises some products through the NDSS and we covers the co-payment for eligible Veteran Card holders.
Please note: You do not need a prescription from your GP to access products through the NDSS.
