What is type 2 diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is a condition that affects your body’s metabolism of glucose (sugar). It is the most common form of diabetes and is caused by resistance to insulin or the inability of the pancreas to produce enough insulin. There are many contributing factors to developing type 2 diabetes, such as being overweight, lack of physical activity, and family history. Symptoms can include increased thirst and urination, increased appetite, loss of weight, fatigue, change in vision, frequent infection, and patches of darkened skin. Type 2 diabetes occurs when a person has blood glucose (sugar) levels that are higher than normal and their body does not use insulin properly.
With Dexcom ONE Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System, you can monitor your type 2 diabetes without finger pricks or scanning*. Unlike other glucose monitoring devices, Dexcom ONE doesn't require any calibration to deliver accurate readings. The Dexcom ONE CGM System can alert you whenever your glucose levels fall outside of your preset High and Low glucose range, so that you can take action. You can customise the alerts and even delay your first high alert. Learn more about Dexcom ONE for type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
* If your glucose alerts and readings from the Dexcom ONE do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.
