Can you wear a pacemaker with or without implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) together with a Dexcom CGM?
Our CGM systems have not been tested under defibrillation condition or in patients using pacemakers. We have no data whether the CGM performance or reliability would be impacted by a electrical shock. It would be prudent to observe the CGM performance after the shock carefully and perform blood glucose (BG) monitoring if the CGM readings are not consistent with symptoms or expectations. The pacemaker manufacturer should be consulted to see if the pacemaker has been tested for protection against Bluetooth devices operating in the frequency range of 2.4 GHz and whether any recommendations are provided.
