What do I need to tell my patients about their Dexcom glucose data being shared?
Once your GP practice has been set up for sharing CGM data, the patients who are using Dexcom CGM will be sent an SMS the next day with the details to sign up and consent to sharing their data.
What are patients’ rights concerning the data?
The patient has the right to access a copy of the data that Dexcom holds for them and have the right to have the data deleted at any time if they wish. Patients can exercise these rights by going to: https://privacyrequest.dexcom.com/privacy. However, the data which is held in the electronic health record at the GP Practice cannot be deleted by Dexcom, and patients would need to contact their GP Practice to have this data deleted. Finally, patients do have the right to request that their medical records are rectified if the information is not accurate.
Which Dexcom CGM Systems can share glucose data?
All Dexcom CGM Systems are able to share glucose data via the Promatica Prism Tool. These include Dexcom G6, Dexcom G7, Dexcom ONE and Dexcom ONE+.
