Why have I received a text message asking me to share data with my GP practice?
Your Dexcom App can share your glucose data with your GP. If you’ve received a message about this, this means your GP practice would like you to give consent to share your glucose data. This will help them more easily see important information about your glucose data and allow them to better support your diabetes management. To share your data, click on the link you have been sent in the text message and follow the steps to give your consent to share data.
I no longer wish to share my Dexcom glucose data with my GP practice – how do I remove my consent?
If you no longer wish to share your Dexcom glucose data with your GP practice, please email [email protected]
What are my rights concerning my data?
You have the right to access a copy of your data that Dexcom holds. You have the right to have your data deleted at any time if you wish. You can exercise these rights by going to: https://privacyrequest.dexcom.com/privacy.
However, the data which is held in your electronic health record at your GP Practice if your Dexcom glucose data is shared cannot be deleted by Dexcom, you would have to contact your GP Practice to have this data deleted. Finally, you do have the right to request that your medical records are rectified if the information is not accurate.
Who do I contact if I have questions about sharing my glucose data?
You should contact your healthcare professional with any questions.
Does sharing glucose data mean I am being monitored by my healthcare professional?
No, whilst your healthcare professional can view your data, they are not receiving real time glucose readings from your CGM and are not proactively monitoring your data. You will still need to monitor your own Dexcom CGM readings to treat highs and lows.
