What is the HbA1C test?

The HbA1C test, also known as a glycohemoglobin or hemoglobin (Hb) A1C test, tells you how well you are managing your diabetes by measuring your average blood glucose (sugar) control for the few months prior to the blood test. Normal HbA1C is between 4% and 6% for a person who does not have diabetes. Your doctor can provide you with your ideal HbA1C target. A higher HbA1C increases the risk of complications, including heart attacks, strokes, neuropathy and more, so keeping your blood glucose and HbA1C in your target range helps lower your risk of complications.
Using Dexcom CGM has been clinically proven to lower your HbA1C1,2.
