How is the Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitoring System different to BGM (Blood Glucose Monitoring)?
Blood glucose monitoring via finger pricks gives patients a glucose reading for one static moment in time. It does not provide the patient with their glucose information on any continual basis or provide them with any warning of their glucose going higher or lower than their preferred range. Dexcom One and Dexcom ONE+ is a continuous glucose monitoring system and instead provides the user with a continuous picture of their glucose readings day and night without them having to use finger pricks*. Alerts on the Dexcom ONE and Dexcom ONE+ system enable the user to be warned of highs/lows to treat their diabetes and make it easier for them to keep their glucose levels within the desired range.
*If your glucose alerts and readings from the Dexcom ONE or Dexcom ONE+ do not match symptoms or expectations, use a blood glucose meter to make diabetes treatment decisions.
