Is Dexcom CGM covered in Ontario?
Yes, Dexcom CGM is covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program and the Assistive Devices Program (ADP), however eligibility and the products covered vary by program:
- Dexcom G7 is covered by the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) program for Ontario residents who manage diabetes with insulin.
- Dexcom G6 and G7 are both covered by the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) for Ontario residents living with type 1 diabetes who meet the program criteria. Click here for more information on program criteria.

To qualify for Dexcom G7 coverage under ODB, individuals living with diabetes must meet the following criteria:

- Be a resident of Ontario with a valid Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) card.
- Be eligible for one of the ODB subplans (listed below).
- Use any type of insulin—no restrictions on insulin type or diabetes type.
- Have a prescription for Dexcom G7 written by a physician or nurse practitioner.

To receive coverage through ADP, you will need to be assessed and followed by a healthcare professional associated with a Diabetes Education Program (DEP) registered with ADP.

What if I have private/employer-covered insurance?
If you do not meet the eligibility criteria for the ODB or ADP programs, it is important to know that most private insurance plans cover Dexcom G6 and Dexcom G7 if you use insulin.
How long will I be approved for?

Coverage remains in place for as long as you are eligible under ODB and are using any insulin (including once daily or weekly insulin).

The initial approval duration is two years. To continue receiving coverage through ADP, you or your child must meet the Renewal Eligibility Criteria and complete the Renewal Form to confirm your continued eligibility every two years.

Where can I get my Dexcom CGM supplies?
ODB:
If you meet the eligibility criteria, get a prescription for Dexcom G7 from a physician or nurse practitioner and take it to your pharmacy so they can fulfill your order.

Following your assessment, you or your healthcare professional should submit your completed application form to Dexcom as soon as possible either by email at [email protected] or by fax at 1-844-348-0784. Dexcom will provide updates via email on the status of your application throughout the application process.

Once you have been approved, Dexcom will contact you to confirm your application status and shipping details. We will then arrange for your Dexcom CGM supplies to be delivered right to your door. A Dexcom G6 or Dexcom G7 Receiver is also available at no cost if you do not have a compatible smart device.

In some cases when covered through ODB, you may have out-of-pocket costs when purchasing at your pharmacy. If you find you do have a co-pay amount, the Dexcom G7 Patient Benefit Program assists in reducing or even eliminating up to 20% of out-of-pocket costs.† Download a copy of the program certificate below, which can be redeemed at your pharmacy with a valid Dexcom G7 prescription.
