CGM Coverage with GreenShield
Not all group health insurance plans with GreenShield, or administered by GreenShield’s HBM+ division, may have adopted standard CGM coverage. By example, some plans may mimic provincial government formulary coverage. Please confirm your coverage through the insurer’s contact center, member website or mobile app.
Does GreenShield provide Dexcom CGM coverage?
Most plan members with diabetes who are using insulin regularly and have group health insurance coverage with GreenShield are eligible for Dexcom G7 coverage.
Do I need a prescription to qualify for coverage?
Yes, you will need a valid prescription. Your doctor or prescribing pharmacist can provide you with a prescription for Dexcom G7. They can switch you from Dexcom G6 to Dexcom G7 without a new prescription.
What do I need to do to get coverage approval?
For eligible GreenShield plan members with type 1 or type 2 diabetes using insulin and a prescription for Dexcom G7, coverage for Dexcom G7 supplies will be automatically approved right at pharmacy.
How long am I approved for?
Check with your insurer through their contact center, member website or mobile app for coverage details.
Where can I get my Dexcom CGM supplies?
You can pick up your Dexcom G7 CGM supplies from your pharmacy of choice.
In some cases you may have out-of-pocket costs when purchasing at your pharmacy. If you find you do have a co-pay amount, the Dexcom Savings Program assists in reducing or even eliminating up to 20% of out-of-pocket costs.* Download a copy of the program certificate below, which can be redeemed at your pharmacy with a valid Dexcom G7 prescription.
Are there any other support programs available to help me manage my diabetes?
Dexcom Canada has partnered with GreenShield to provide plan members with convenient access to Dexcom CGM supplies combined with virtual diabetes coaching support through the Digital Diabetes Care Program.
