Do I need to remove my Dexcom G6 sensor for certain medical procedures?

This answer applies to:
Last Updated: September 22, 2020

Don’t wear or use any Dexcom G6 components (sensor, transmitter, receiver, and/or smart device) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT) scan, or high-frequency electrical heat (diathermy) treatments.

Dexcom G6 hasn’t been tested in those situations. The magnetic fields and heat could damage its components, which may cause it to display inaccurate Dexcom G6 sensor glucose readings or may prevent alerts. Without Dexcom G6 readings or alarm/alert notifications, you might miss a severe low or high glucose event. Before any of the aforementioned procedures, you should stop your sensor session and remove the sensor. Please consult your doctor for recommendations with any other medical procedures.
