Pregnancy is a time of joy, anticipation, and transformation. But for those managing diabetes—whether it began before pregnancy or developed during it—this journey can also bring added stress and health concerns. The need to maintain tighter glucose control,1 monitor changes closely, and make daily decisions with your and your baby's health in mind can feel overwhelming.
The Dexcom G7 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) System continuously measures and displays your glucose numbers on your phone in real time, showing you where your glucose is, where it's headed, and where it's been, without fingersticks.† This helps you better understand how food, exercise, medications, stress, illness, and even sleep affect your glucose, which can help you to make more confident diabetes decisions for the health of you and your baby.
For the unique needs of pregnancy, the Dexcom G7 app now has three new features designed to support expectant parents managing diabetes:
- Customizable target ranges: tailor your glucose goals to align with your care plan and your doctors' recommendations
- Fasting glucose logging: a simple way to record and review your fasting glucose levels, which are especially important during pregnancy
- Post-Meal Glucose Logging: Work with your care provider to set a post-meal glucose target and optimal timing, such as one or two hours, for post-meal glucose to be recorded in Clarity.§
These new features are designed to help you feel confident, supported, and more in control during one of the most important times of your life.
Customizable target range: Personalize your pregnancy goals
Pregnancy typically requires a tighter glucose range than someone managing type 1 or type 2 diabetes. For example, the ADA recommendation for target range in someone with type 1 or type 2 diabetes is 70-180 mg/dl,1 while the consensus for time in range during pregnancy is typically 63-140 mg/dL.1
Now in the Dexcom G7 app, you can customize your target range to reflect that specific pregnancy goal. This flexibility allows you and your healthcare provider to tailor your glucose alerts and visualization to match pregnancy-specific needs. Whether you're newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes or managing type I or type 2 diabetes during pregnancy, customizing your target range can help you stay aligned with your care plan and feel more in control.
Custom target ranges can also support shared decision-making with your doctor, making it easier to adjust your treatment plan as your pregnancy progresses.
Log your fasting glucose with ease
Fasting glucose is an important metric to monitor during pregnancy for several reasons. It provides you and your doctor with a clear picture of your body's insulin resistance, unaffected by recent food or drinks. Monitoring these values throughout pregnancy helps your doctor make informed decisions about your treatment plan—especially when it comes to adjusting insulin doses, if needed.
If you're not using a continuous glucose monitor (CGM), this typically means using a fingerstick to check your blood glucose each morning and making a note of the reading.
However, with the Dexcom G7, logging your fasting glucose is easy. Simply select your wake-up time in the History tab of the Dexcom G7 app, and your fasting glucose value will be automatically recorded.‡ This data is also shared with your doctor through the Dexcom Clarity§ Clinic platform, giving them a clear view of your glucose trends over time.
No more fingersticks† or manual logging—just a quick tap, and you're done.

Conclusion
The Dexcom G7 app now includes features created to support a healthy pregnancy—for both you and your baby. With the ability to personalize your glucose targets to fit your unique needs, and a simple way to log your fasting glucose each morning, managing diabetes during pregnancy just got a little easier and can give you more confidence in your care.
